Terrain
Forest
Forest is the only defensive terrain in the game.
- Entering costs 2 move points — you will be a target for a turn.
- A defending unit's defense power is scaled by the multiplier (Combat).
- Cities can be founded here.
Because forest is both passable and settleable it carries the map's upper layers as well: resource nodes, Ruins, Bandit camp and Neutral village all appear in forest — though one hex carries only one of them. The terrain multiplier applies to the unit standing on the tile; it does not add to the defense of a village sitting in a forest (Combat).
The multiplier stacks on top of type advantage: a Spearman in a forest gets both the terrain and the type multiplier against an incoming Raider. That is the most expensive target on the board.
The numbers on this page are read from the game’s balance tables.
