Buildings
Yurt
The Yurt is the building of the Expansionist line dynasty and takes the place of the Farm: when a seat of this dynasty goes to build a Farm, the Yurt enters the queue. It does all of the Farm's work and adds a contribution to the city's production on top.
Its effects
- Region income +1 Food
- +1 Food for each Fertile land tile in the region (at most 2 tiles)
- Population cap +1
- Region income +1 Production
For comparison, the Farm's effects (Farm):
- Region income +1 Food
- +1 Food for each Fertile land tile in the region (at most 2 tiles)
- Population cap +1
The difference is in two places: the Yurt's cost is 7 (the Farm's is 5) and it has a fixed production income. The food share, the fertile-land location share and the population cap step are the same as the Farm's: in a city with fertile land in its region the Yurt takes the Farm's location share by the same rule (at most 2 tiles count).
What taking the Farm's place means
- The choice is not yours, it is the dynasty's. Under the Expansionist line, when you put a Farm in the queue, a Yurt is what gets written to the queue; a Farm cannot be built separately.
- Same slot. The Yurt spends one slot; a city holds at most 3 buildings (The production queue).
- The technology lock comes from the Farm. No node unlocks the Yurt separately; without knowing the node that unlocks the Farm, the Yurt cannot be built either.
- A city cannot hold both. The Yurt and the Farm are two faces of the same building: while one stands in a city or sits in its queue, the other cannot be built.
- A building that comes with a conquest works on its own data. If a city you capture has another dynasty's Yurt standing in it, the building is kept and keeps its effect (Cities and population).
- The population cap step adds up. If a Yurt is built together with an Almshouse, as with the Farm, the steps add up.
When to build it
The Yurt's only difference from the Farm is production, so the criteria for building it are the same as the Farm's: when army upkeep starts eating your income, in a city with Fertile land in its region, in a city whose population has hit its cap. A city with production empties its queue faster; together with the Pioneer discount (Expansionist line), this shortens the road to a new city.
